Granite is naturally occurring and comes in a variety of wonderful colors and patterns. Fissures and pits occur naturally in stone and should be considered a part of the natural beauty. Often the pattern and color vary from one end of the stone to the other. Granite is heat proof and scratch resistant. You can put your hot pots and pans directly onto you granite with no trivet. Nothing is maintenance free. Any countertop product requires the normal maintenance of washing. All stone is porous to some extent and as long as you wipe spills off you counters in a reasonable amount of time, there will be no reason for concern. Today's sealers are superior and therefore greatly reduce to chance of problems. Granite cleans with warm water and mild soap. Special cleaners can be purchased for granite. Granite is sealed when it is installed. It is recommended that it be resealed every year. It only takes a minute to do, simply wipe on the sealer and allow it to dry. CaesarStone is practical, durable and beautiful - and has clear differences over natural stone and other surfacing materials. Heat, scratch, chip and crack resistant CaesarStone is low maintenance. Durable and easy to work with CaesarStone requires very little maintenance to retain its color and shine. CaesarStone is impervious to stains even tea, soda, wine, vinegar, lemon juice, and strongly colored spices are no problem. It is even resistant to household acids. CaesarStone materials are also in accordance with the requirements of the NSF. This is an independent organization dedicated to public health, safety and protection of the environment. Slab yards will not custom order any slab unless it is guaranteed sold. Honing a slab here can be done, but dark colors may show tool marks from the polishing and sawing equipment used overseas. Front Range Stone will not hone any dark colors in our facility due to this consumer expectation. Light colors can be honed at our facility and are not a problem. Honed stone is sealed, like polished stone. Honed natural stones are more susceptible to staining. Using honed material is a somewhat new fad here in the U.S. and therefore there is no guarantee to expectations of its wear and tear. Front Range Stone does not have warranty coverage for honed surfaces. Formica Solid Surface Formica Solid Surfacing is stain and chemical resistant. It is solid and renewable and is resistant to fungal and bacterial growth.
